“Towards A New World”- a fashion collaboration between Brian Teeling and The Garden
Award-winning landscape designer and owner of The Garden, Mark Grehan, has partnered with fashion and fine-art photographer, Brian Teeling, on a limited run of photographic print t-shirts titled “Towards A New World”.
The set will be made available for purchase on June 29th with an event at Made in The Powerscourt Centre.
This collection is inspired by the Japanese language of flowers or ‘Hanakotoba’, which is a means of cryptological communication through the use and symbolism of flowers.
The form, size and colour of each blossom are studied while the photographs themselves are emotive and communicate directly to the observer without the use of words.
“Many people think flowers simply have a decorative purpose. The form or beauty of each plant is validated by its surroundings, whether that be in a vase on a table or in a wreath on a grave.
This perceived cultural notion is something we wanted to question and perhaps, deconstruct. In doing so we’ve removed them from our world. This reality looks past the obvious and considers the emotional qualities of the bloom, with the ultimate goal to discover beauty in unusual places.”
